Shipham PreSchool is open to all children aged between 2 and 5 years from the village and surrounding area (including Star, Rowberrow, Winscombe, Cheddar, Churchill, Burrington, Charterhouse, Langford, Axbridge, Sandford). Shipham is in the Sedgmoor district of North Somerset, perched on the edge of the Mendip hills near the West Mendip Way and surrounded by beautiful countryside. The Pre-School is sited in the grounds of Shipham First School, and with currently between 9 and 15 children in attendance at any time it’s a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment in which children grow and thrive.
After our last Ofsted visit (2015) the inspector described Shipham Pre-School as a “welcoming environment” and we can’t help but agree! Our facilities are second-to-none, our staff are passionate about providing the very best care and education, and – most importantly – the children absolutely love it here.
Learning is play based (following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum) and is flexible enough that it can be tailored to each child’s individual interests. The Pre-School works closely with First School to ensure that children are prepared for the big step into full-time education, wherever that may be.
The pre-school years are important in laying a foundation for later development and learning experiences. We aim to provide a safe, stimulating and happy, child centred environment where your children can play and grow. At the heart of all we do is a desire to promote happy, well rounded, confident young people. We aim to stimulate an inquisitive mind and cultivate an imaginative independent learner.
